Kerning is the spacing between specific letters, whereas Tracking is the space across a range of characters, or even entire paragraphs or documents.
Kerning upside down
One of the fine Typography tricks is to kern you letters upside down. It is a well-used and tested technique. While some may ask why to practice such a thing, the answer to which is that this enables you to see your letters and the space between them without actually reading the words. This simply brings meaning to them. If you’re doing something fancy this technique can actually bring some life into your text.
